You Need Money Now? Here’s How to Get Money in Your Pockets Today

I need money nowIf you find yourself thinking: I need money now! But how can I get money today?

Then you’re in the right place.

And honestly, who hasn’t needed a little more money once in a while?

There are thousands of articles online about how to make money fast or showing you “27 ways to make money online in a day”.

The problem is that 95% of those articles are not very helpful. For example, lots of articles about making money fast include things like:

  • Rent out your spare bedroom on AirBnb
  • Start a blog

It’s frustrating. Do they expect you to set up a blog, write a few articles, get people to visit them, and earn money from it in a day?!

And even if you miraculously managed to do all that and made money on the very first day, you wouldn’t see any of that money until you meet a certain payout minimum.

Don’t get me wrong, these are valid ways to make some extra money. It’s just frustrating that bloggers make them seem so easy and instant.

The truth is that there aren’t many ways to get money in your pockets in less than a day.

Do You Need Money? Or Do You Want Extra Money?

Before I can tell you the different ways to get money now, you need to decide how urgent your desire to have money is:

Do you really need it? For example, to fix your car that you need to get to work.

Or do you want money? For example, to buy the newest and hottest iPhone.

Once you decide whether you need money or want money, you need to decide on your timeframe:

Do you need/want money in your hands today?

Or do you need/want money in the next couple days?

The answers to both those questions will determine how exactly how you should go about getting that cash.

Once you’ve figured out your answers, click on the link below that best describes your situation and it will take you to the section of this article that you need to read:

3 Ways to Get Money Today That Actually Work (Under $100)

If you need a couple extra dollars today, this section will show you how to get that. Some of these money-making methods are online, but most of them are in the real world because of the time constraint of getting money in your pockets today.

You may want to combine some of the methods below to maximize your earning potential.

All these methods to make extra money can be started NOW and with enough effort, you can spend the money you earn later in the day!

Quick Disclaimer: I would normally recommend doing things like surveys online to make extra money, but none of those sites will get you money in your hands today. They all take at least a day or two to pay you.

The methods below are for getting money in your pockets today!

1. Get a quick $3 with Shoptracker

While three dollars isn’t a large sum of money, it only takes a few minutes to get yourself a $3 Visa gift card that you can spend anywhere that accepts Visa cards.

It’s definitely worth it in my opinion.

All you have to do is sign-up for Shoptracker and answer a few questions about your Amazon purchasing habits and they’ll email you a $3 Visa gift card. In fact, they’ll send you a $3 gift card every month!

To read more about how Shoptracker works you can read my full review here or click here sign-up and get your free gift card.

2. Sell stuff that you have laying around

Selling your used stuff is a fast way to make money.

Use apps like Craigslist to sell your stuff locally. If you sell your stuff online at Ebay or another online consignment store, it will take longer than a day to see your money.

But it may be your only choice if you can’t find a local buy on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.

Not sure what to sell? Here’s a list to give you inspiration:

If you have a bunch of random things you’re trying to get rid of, you should have a yard sale.

3. Offer your services to your neighbors

If you really need money today, sometimes the best thing to do is to ask around your neighborhood for things you can do to get paid.

When I was younger, I would mow a few lawns in my neighborhood for $20 a lawn. It was a great way to afford the newest video games.

Here are a few ideas of what you can offer to your neighbors:

  • Trim hedges or low-hanging tree branches
  • Mow their lawns
  • Shovel their snow-filled driveway
  • Repaint their worn house numbers
  • Help them move in or move out

If you have elderly neighbors that no longer get around very well, you can even offer things like going grocery shopping or picking up medication.

These quick gigs are great ways to get some quick cash in your pockets today.

If You Need Money Now, Here’s How to Get Over $100 in Your Pockets Today

Getting less than a $100 in a day is easy with a little hustle.

Getting over $100 is harder. Especially if you need a few hundred dollars for a car repair or another type of emergency.

In fact, here’s the thing: if you actually need a few hundred dollars in your pockets, you’re probably too stressed out or busy to spend the whole day trying to earn that money.

There are 3 things you can do to get that money:

4. Dip into your emergency fund

If you need money than it qualifies as an emergency. Hopefully you have an emergency fund set up for these situations.

If not, you should start building one as soon as this money emergency is behind you.

Here’s my complete guide to creating your own emergency fund.

5. Use a credit card

A credit card shouldn’t normally be used for emergencies, but sometimes you have no choice.

If you know that you’ll be able to pay-off your credit card at the end of the billing period, you should go ahead and use your credit card for the emergency.

Most credit cards nowadays offer some kind of rewards or points for most purchases. This can make using your credit card for emergencies even more appealing.

Just be cautious that you don’t spend more money than you can pay-off later.

If you don’t have a credit card that offers a good reward program, I recommend that you try the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. They offer a great rewards program if you love to travel.

6. Borrow the money you need from a friend or family member

Asking a friend or family member for money can be a little tricky. You should only do this if you know you can pay them back soon and you’re on good terms with them.

The benefit of borrowing money from your friends or family is that you (most likely) won’t be paying any interest on it. The con is that it may stress your relationship with them if you can’t pay them back or if they believe that you’re taking advantage of them.

Tread with caution.

Countless Ways to Make Some Extra Money In the Next Couple Days (Under $100)

If you just need a few dollars in the new few days, then you’re in luck.

There are many different ways to get that much-needed cash. Any of the methods I mentioned earlier still apply .

Along with those methods, you can try the following:

7. Get a free stock in minutes ($2.50 – $200.00)

If you have a few minutes to spare you can get a random stock for free by signing up for Robinhood.

Robinhood is an investing app. But there are no obligations to actually invest your money once you sign up – so it truly is free money.

Here’s how it works:

1. Sign up for Robinhood
2. Once you sign-up you’ll be rewarded a random stock valued between $2.50 and $200.
3. Wait three days to sell it and cash out

8 . Take some online surveys for quick money

One of the easiest ways to make money online is through surveys.

However, there are a ton of survey sites out there and, to be honest, most of them are pretty crappy. The secret is to know which ones are worth it and which ones aren’t.

One of my favorites is SurveyJunkie. Unlike many of their competitors, they focus solely on surveys. This makes them really easy to use.

I wrote about the 3 best survey sites of 2018 here. Spoiler alert: SurveyJunkie is in the top 3.

They tell you exactly how many points you’ll earn for a specific survey and HOW long it will take. So you can decide up front if it’s worth taking or not!

I’ve found survey’s that pay up to $50! Just signing up and completing your profile will earn you around $2 worth of points.

The three sites I recommend trying out are SurveyJunkie, Swagbucks, and InboxDollars. (All of them offer sign-up bonuses! 💰)

9. Get money for buying things you would buy anyways

One of my favorite money hacks is an app called Ibotta.

Ibotta is a cash-back app that gives you money back on certain purchases. It’s super easy to use and doesn’t take very much time at all.

While this method won’t make you $100 very quickly by itself, combining it with other methods, like the credit card mentioned above, will make you achieve your money goals a lot quicker.

I wrote an in-depth review of Ibotta here that you can read.

Ibotta is currently running a sign-up bonus where you can get $10 when you sign-up and upload your first receipt.

10. Read emails to make extra money

Vindale Research is another get-paid to app that rewards you for doing different things online.

One of the ways to get rewarded stood out above the rest. That is, reading emails.

Yep, you can earn rewards just by opening emails.

Cleaning out my email inbox is something I already do while watching tv. Getting to inbox zero is something I try to do every day to stay organized.

Vindale Research will reward you for opening up promotional emails!

So why not earn some spending money while clearing out your inbox?

Click here to sign up for Vindale Research (you’ll earn $2 just for filling out your profile)

11. Countless other ways to make money

There are thousands of ways to make money in a few days.

There’s no way I can write them all down here. But if you’re interested in some other ways to make money that I haven’t mentioned, check out these articles:

How to Get the Money You Need in a Few Days (Over $500)

While making a few bucks to cover a needed expense is easy, it gets tougher if you need a few hundred or even a few thousand.

You can take every method I mentioned earlier and try and scale it.

Except maybe the borrowing from friends and family method. I personally wouldn’t want to owe a friend that much money.

If you’re desperate you can also try the following:

12. Get a personal loan

I would recommend using a credit card before getting a personal loan, but for some situations, getting a personal loan is a solid choice.

Zippyloan is a good place to get a personal loan if that’s the route you want to take. I wrote a full review of them here that you can read .

They claim to get you the money you need in 24 hours.

13. Get a part-time job

Drive around town or check your local Craigslist for a part-time job you can do in the evening for some extra money.

Craigslist can be a great place to find side-gigs for which you have the perfect skill for.

Did You Find the Answer You Were Looking For?

Being in a position where you need a certain amount of money very soon is not pretty.

Hopefully this article gave you some options to get the money you need.

But remember: you never want to be in this kind of situation ever again. To prevent it from happening again, you should build yourself an emergency fund.
